Extra virgin olive oil: pruning activities in the olive grove and oil tasting.
Today I'm suggesting an outdoor activity in my olive grove near Florence, in Tuscany.
Gloves and shears will be ready for you to prune the olive trees or, depending on the time of year, cut off suckers and shoots. There's always something to do, no matter the season!

To get started, wear appropriate clothing and shoes!
After working in the fields, we'll move on to the "tinaia," the room on the farm that until the 1950s served as a wine and oil processing room for the farmers who worked here until 1957, the year they left the farmhouse. There are still some interesting tools, such as a "Strettolo" (a small press) and other iron machinery used by the farmers.
A look at the room where I store the steel containers containing the oil, and then we'll move on to a tasting of the various oils I produce, as is done at official tasting panels.
We'll end with a delicious "fettunta" (bruschetta). Afterwards, we'll taste other Tuscan products, such as salami, prosciutto, and cheeses.
